Madrone or Madrona wood veneer is the more commonly known name for Arbutus.

A highly decorative veneer, which is sourced from the Pacific coast of North America, it is prized for its densely packed, swirled burr/burl patterns and fine texture. It is primarily used in fine cabinetry, high-end furniture, and luxury car interiors.

Its appearance ranges from pale cream to rich pinkish-brown, often with dramatic dark red patches and intricate knot clusters.  The burr cut is renowned for its chaotic, highly figured, and swirled grain, offering a distinct 3D visual depth.

Solid Madrone is notorious for warping and checking during the drying process, making it difficult to use as lumber. However, as a veneer, it provides the exceptional aesthetics of the wood without the structural instability.
