Collection: AVODIRE

Avodire veneer is a popular decorative material known for its pale yellow to golden colour and high natural luster. It is widely used in high-end applications like furniture making, cabinetry, architectural panels, and aircraft interiors.

The heartwood and sapwood are difficult to distinguish, with the colour being a creamy white to pale yellow that darkens to a rich golden yellow over time, especially with light exposure.  While the grain can be straight, it is often wavy, irregular, or interlocked, which, when quarter-cut, produces an attractive mottled, rippled, or "mutton-roll" figure. This often results in a shimmering visual effect known as chatoyance.  The wood has a fine, even texture, similar to a high-quality mahogany.

It is relatively easy to work with hand or machine tools, glues and finishes well, and has no characteristic odour. It is, however, non-durable regarding decay and susceptible to insect attack.
